The Gloversville Enlarged School District will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at 6 PM in the Gloversville Middle School cafeteria. The hearing will be live-streamed and questions will be allowed via the district’s Facebook page. On Tuesday, May 18, residents of the district will be asked to consider a $67,262,883 budget for the 2021-2022 school year and the purchase of two (2) 66-passenger school buses from the Bus Purchase and Vehicle Capital Reserve fund. The bus purchase will have no financial impact on the general fund budget or the tax levy but are still subject to voter approval. The polls will be open for in-person voting between 11 AM and 8 PM at the Gloversville High School and the Bleecker Town Hall. The proposed budget represents a 1.78% decrease ($934,722) in expenditures due in large part to the change in debt service and reductions in the cost of health insurance. The tax levy will increase by $172,546 or 1.13% as determined by the NYS property tax cap calculation.

Developing the annual school budget is a year-round process that involves the Gloversville Board of Education and district and school leaders. On the third Tuesday of each May, that process concludes when the public votes on a school budget proposal for the following year and elects candidates to the Board of Education.
