In 2017, the Gloversville Enlarged School District Board of Education voted to reconfigure the district’s elementary schools to a model that includes neighborhood schools and grade-level grouping. Park Terrace was designated a primary school and now serves approximately 300 scholars in pre-kindergarten through grade 2.

The programs at Park Terrace Elementary School are designed to develop scholar confidence as learners, instill a love of learning and develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for scholars to communicate effectively, understand the world around them and participate effectively in a democratic society. Students also learn character education (PBIS), where three core district-wide expectations (“Be Respectful”, “Be Responsible”, “Be Safe”) are taught, practiced and modeled in all areas of school life.

MISSION

Our mission at Park Terrace is to create an environment that promotes the pursuit of knowledge. We believe in the value of pride, respect, and a sense of responsibility as contributing members of society. We will provide opportunities for all scholars to become independent thinkers, achieve success, and grow as individuals.

We believe that all children can learn! However, we can’t do it alone. We need your help. Please become a partner in education with your school. Reading is the foundation of success in school and in life. Make it a habit to read with your child every day!

SCHOOL HOURS

School hours are from 8:40 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The school building opens at 8:15 a.m.

ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL

K-2 students are expected to enter the side door D. Doors open at 8:15 a.m. and close at 8:40 a.m. After 8:40 all scholars will need to be signed into the main office. For safety and security, parents are not allowed to escort their child to their classrooms.

If someone other than yourself will be picking up your child, please inform his or her teacher with a note and ensure that the person is listed on the emergency card. Dismissal is a busy time. In order to ensure your child’s safety and ability to account for all children, early dismissals or changes to dismissal will not be allowed between 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.
