What lies behind us and what
lies before us are but tiny matters compared to what lies within
us.----Emerson

The difference between the right
word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning
and a lightning bug.--Twain

Welcome!! Language Arts
is more than just reading and writing. It is about cultivating
a love of the written word. It is about exploring yourself, and
the world around you, through what you read and what you write.

This year in my class we will
read some novels, short stories, and poetry. We will explore
the world of Greek Mythology. We will learn how to connect
with the passages we read instead of just looking at words on
paper. But, most of all, we will try to have some fun!!
We will begin the year
learning about each other through short stories, poems, and an
"All About Me" packet that each student will complete. From
there we will move on to our first novels of the year.
Each student will be doing
independent reading outside of class this year. For more
information about these assignments, click on the homework
link to
the left.
The NYS ELA
examination will be given to 7th graders this year on January
17th and 18th. Please make sure that your child is well-rested
on those days. It is also helpful if the students have
breakfast the mornings of the test. A full belly will help
them to perform better. Thanks for all your help and support.
