Welcome to the McNab School Counseling Program
Consistent with the district's philosophy of education, McNab Elementary School's counseling program concerns itself with maximizing each child's potential. It is the goal of McNab's counseling program to academically and socially prepare today's students to become tomorrow's adults.
McNab Elementary School has a full-time counselor. The school counselor offers individual counseling, small group counseling, and large group guidance activities.
Among the goals of counseling are the following:
To help students develop self-understanding and self-awareness.
To help students learn to recognize and deal
with their feelings.
To help students develop social skills and
conflict-resolution skills.
To help students build self-esteem and
self-confidence.
To help students recognize and make the most
of their capabilities.
To help students build self-esteem and
self-confidence.
To help students better adjust to school and
home environments.
The counselor also facilitates child study and acts as a consultant to teachers and parents. The counselor can also act as a link between school and human service agencies.
