  • Last day of school for K-5 is Thursday, June 20. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. Staff only reports on Friday, June 21. (*This is a change from the original calendar.)

  • GHS Class of 1977 holding a Scholarship Bottle Drive Fundraiser
    Drop off your bottles and cans from now until Sept. 30 at the old Meco Firehouse and let them know the donation is for the Class of 1977 Scholarship Fund.

  • Congratulations to GMS seventh-grader, Jacob Albertine, who has been selected as a "People to People Student Ambassador" 

    Several fundraisers have been set up to help cover some of the expenses of travel for Jacob who has the opportunity to visit Great Britain through this program. Read more

  • Easing the transition into middle school
    Just the word transition can evoke fear in many: Fear of the unknown, a shift, a transformation. “Any way you look at it, transition means your world is changing. And that can be scary. Especially for elementary students transitioning into middle school,” Dr. Stuetzel said. “We’re looking for ways to ease those transitions. Not only for students, but for parents as well.” .     The March Positive Behavioral Newsletter is now available here

  • Parents could see a drop in grades 3-8 Math and ELA scores
    Parents and teachers should be prepared to see lower test scores on grades 3-8 state assessments in math and English language arts this year as the tests are redesigned to reflect Common Core Learning Standards. A memo from State Education Deputy Commissioner Ken Slentz says the drop in scores is expected due to the higher performance standards reflected in the tests.  Read more

    Parents of Gloversville High School students and Gloversville Middle School students can now sign up to view their child's attendance record, grading information and schedule, on-line through the Parent Access Portal. *Please note that this service is only available to parents and/or legal guardians of high school or middle school students.     “If your child scores below the APM, and plans on attending college upon graduation, it is the district’s recommendation that they retake the exam,” said Rich Demallie, GHS Principal.  Read more

  • District participated in safety training

    Friday, Jan. 18, the Gloversville School District staff was joined by Johnstown and Wheelerville school districts for a safety training conducted by the NYS Department of Homeland Security. Read more
  • GESD now accepting Universal Pre-K applications

    Applications for the 2013-14 UPK program are being accepted for children who were 4 years old either on or before Dec. 1, 2013. The program is offered at Meco and Boulevard Elementary Schools and is open to all district families. Half day sessions (morning or afternoon) with meals provided. Contact Melissa Vacula at 775-5740 ext. 4056 for an application.
  • GMS offering a free After-School Program

    In ongoing efforts to provide parents with safe after-school environments, Gloversville Middle School is now offering an after-school program free of charge. The Advantage After-School Program will be held Monday through Friday from 2:30-5:30 p.m. each day school is in session. Full story
  • School board approves the addition of a student representative

    A Gloversville High School student representative will soon be sitting at the table along with Board of Education members during their monthly meetings. Members of the Gloversville Board of Education (BOE) unanimously approved the addition of a student representative to the board during the Dec. 10 meeting. Read more

    The district's online pre-payment system for school meals, MyNutrikids.com, was recently purchased by another company and has been changed to mySchoolBucks.com. Read more
