GUSTAR VERBS

 

Significado -  A mí me gusta la escuela. = I like school

                                        A mí me gustan las clases.  = I like the classes.

 

Formación – To use a verb like gustar, do NOT use the subject pronouns…. Use the Indirect Object Pronouns (possibly preceded by ‘a’ + prepositional pronoun) and the form of gustar which agrees with the subject following the verb

 

(A mí)               me

 

(A ti)                 te

 

(A él)                le                              gusta (bailar, el helado, ella)

(A ella)              le                              gustan (ellas, los helados)

(A usted)           le

 

(A nosotros)      nos         +

 

(A vosotros)      os

 

(A ellos)            les                           

(A ellas)            les

(A ustedes)       les

 

Other verbs like gustar:

 

Disgustar          interesar           importar            encantar

Fascinar            molestar           doler (ue)          impresionar

Preocupar         faltar               parecer             bastar

 

Ej:

        Juan likes to play soccer.   A Juan le gusta jugar al fútbol.

 

        My eyes hurt.    A mí me duelen los ojos.

 

        The rules are important to us.   Nos importan las reglas.
