Course Description:
Music Theory is a basic course in the fundamentals of music for reading and writing in the idiom. Included in the course is the understanding of the staff, clefs, music notation, scales, modes, meter, rhythm, key signatures, sight singing, and ear training. Music Theory also includes the study of intervals, chords, cadences, and melody writing. This class is highly recommended for students planning to major or minor in Music at the college level. Any student working toward a three unit sequence in Music should take this course. Any student planning a five unit Regents sequence must take Music Theory. (1 unit, full year course)
