ROBYN REPORT:   We have just finished Chapter 3.  We will be doing Chapter 4 before Wednesday November 14th, 2007.

Chapter 1:  Background of the story is given.  Introduced the reporters of the Robyn Report and what they do.

Activity:  Used a timeline to match up people and their jobs at the Robyn Report.

Chapter 2:  Rowdy Roxanne is introduced and Logan tells the reporters about the food fight.  Robyn gives out assignments for the block party.  Rowdy Roxanne exclaims that an animal is missing from the petting zoo.

Activity:  Students draw a picture of the lizard and where they think the lizard is.

Chapter 3:  Robyn talks about the seed spitting contest.   Robyn goes with Roxanne to look for the missing animal.  They did not find the lizard.

Activity:  Students participated in a mock seed (squash seeds) spitting contest.

Chapter 4:  There is a problem at the Petting Zoo.  The Lizard Scruffy got out of his cage.  The team of reports find the lizard even though it is a chameleon.

Activity:  Students draw pictures of what they think the lizard looks like and where they think it is.

Chapter 5:  There is a problem at the bake sale.  The cookies are terrible.  One of the participants of the bake sale finds out that she used salt instead of sugar.

Activity:  Students prepared cookies using salt instead of sugar.  Then, the students participated in a mock bake sale, using money skills and tasting what can happen when simple mistakes are made.

Chapter 6:  There is a problem at the seed spitting contest.  Henry and Sarah are the two contestants that make it to the 3rd round.  Henry accuses Sarah of cheating.

Activity:  Robyn's idea of proving that Sarah did not cheat is to taste the water to make sure it is not soda, like Henry claims.  Students participated in a taste test of several cups of liquid which was either water or soda.

Chapter 7:  In all the commotion, we don't know whose pit is the one that landed the furthest.  How will we tell who the real winner is?

Activity:  Talk about possible ways to prove the winning seed belongs to Henry or ways to prove it belongs to Sarah.

Chapter 8:  Something is wrong at the ball game.  Somebody or thing is making calls like "Strike" and You're Out!,  and it is not the umpire.  Everyone (players, umpires and fans) are confused.   The game will be canceled until they find the culprit.

Chapter 9:  Students find out that a mocking bird is ruining the baseball game.  The only way to stop it is to ignor it.  The umpire decides to go on with the game.  Robyn goes back to the seed spitting contest.  She interviews Sarah.  When she asks Sarah how Roxanne talked her into doing the interview, Sarah writes down the answer on a pad of paper.  We won't know what was on the paper until the next Robyn Report.

Activity:  Students from morning class will read the story and put on a mini skit for the students returning in the afternoon from workstudy and/or VOTEC.  Students will try to imagine what Sarah wrote on the paper she showed to Robyn.
