Welcome!
Resource Room
The purpose of
Resource Room is to assist students in specific areas of
learning. Much time is spent addressing reading and writing
strategies in order to improve comprehension and prepare for the
New York State exam in Language Arts. In addition, students
are assisted with special classroom projects, studying for
upcoming exams, and learning and reviewing concepts presented in
their academic classes.
6th Grade Replacement Language Arts
In the
English Replacement class students are expected to
learn 6th grade reading and writing skills. This
class is designed to be taught at a slower pace
and in a smaller classroom setting. The goal is
to prepare all of the students to take the New
York State Language Arts exam in January. Topics
include comprehension, inferencing, fact and
opinion, and fluency,
Independent Reading Assignment
Each quarter, every student
will be required to read a book of their choice
outside of the classroom. They will each complete
a book project and give a presentation to
the class about their book.
