Math 8 Course Outline

The following topic will be covered throughout the year in eight grade.  They are listed in the order of which they will be learned, with a ten-day review for the math 8 assessment taking place in the beginning of March.  Topics to be covered will be :  transformational geometry, polynomials, rate and per cent, pythagorean theorem, equations and geometry, coordinate geometry, inequalities, linear equations and graphing, quadratics and functions.

Course A Outline

This class is a Regents requirement for high school and you will be taking a Regents exam at the conclusion of this class when you are at GHS. The following topics will be covered in the accelerated math class along with topics that need to be covered to be prepared to take the math 8 assessment in March:  numbers, sets and operations, algebraic expressions, equations, polynomials, inequalities, ratio and proportion, special products and factoring, fractions, first degree equations and inequalities, coordinate plane, systems of equations and quadratic equations.
