Welcome
to Mr. DeLilli's Social Studies program! The excitement of a
new school year is always felt in September when we begin to
take a look at what topics of study are ahead. The 8th grade
curriculum is a continuation of the 7th grade curriculum
chronologically starting with the Industrial Revolution. There
are a variety of activities that we plan each year and
students will be informed of these as we approach them. This
website is available for students and parents to help complete
work, get caught up, and be informed of the review programs
available throughout the year to help prepare for the 8th
grade NYS Social Studies Assessment. Please feel free to
contact me at any time by emailing at cdelilli@gloversvilleschools.org
if you have a question or concern about your child. I look
forward to this year and the study of American History from
1877 to the present.
At
the conclusion of the year students may be taking a final exam
on these topics. All students will have to take the Grade 8
NYS Social Studies Assessment which is based on the 7th and
8th grade social studies curriculum. (See the State Assessment
Link) We will review 7th grade throughout the year and
introduce new topics from the 8th grade units. The state
assessment is scheduled for June 7th and 8th. I will be
communicating with parents throughout the year to keep you
informed of activities and what can be done at home to help
students be more successful in this course of study.
