YOUTH AIDE OFFICER OVERVIEW

 

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

1.  The Youth Aide Officer and Walk Through Programs are to assist Gloversville Middle School in fostering a positive relationship between the law enforcement community, school community, today’s youth, and the community at large.

2.  To build a better community of citizens by providing a community- based role model in the educational system.

3.  The program also attempts to promote a better understanding of the law enforcement officer’s role in society while educating students, parents, and school personnel.

4.   To reduce the number of code of conduct violations

 

 

PRIORITIES:

1.      The first priority of the officer is the protection of students, staff, and the community from negative influences and to assist in maintaining order in the school and community by working directly with local agencies such as: DSS, Probation, and School Officials.

2.       The second priority is to act as a community partner with the school staff in safety matters, violence reduction strategies and legal aspects of the activity of students.

3.       The third priority is to facilitate excellence in citizenship and related law education. The Youth Aide Officer will share citizenship information about responsibilities in the school and community.

4.       The fourth priority is to provide a positive role model to the students and to foster better understanding between the law enforcement community and the students and staff.
