1 cup lukewarm water
1 package yeast (1 scant tablespoon)
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon oil
3 cups flour
Crisco (enough to melt 1 inch in fry pan)
Topping: cinnamon & sugar or powdered sugar
Spaghetti sauce and mozzarella cheese
Making the dough
Put lukewarm water in mixing bowl and add the yeast. Stir until fully dissolved. Let stand for a couple minutes. Add sugar, salt, and oil. Stir until blended. Add 1 ½ cups flour and stir until smooth. Add the remaining 1 ½ cups in small amounts, may not need all of it. Use just enough flour to make the dough just firm enough to handle. Turn dough out onto floured surface. Knead dough until smooth. Return kneaded dough to a lightly oiled mixing bowl. Cover with a clean dishtowel and let stand for an hour to rise.
Frying the dough
Preheat electric frypan to 365F. Divide the dough into 6 equal parts. Stretch or roll out dough on floured surface. Form dough into circle. Lower dough carefully into preheated frypan. Pierce bubbles with a fork. When brown on one side, carefully turn dough with tongs. When second side is brown, remove dough with tongs and place on paper towels to blot excess oil. Top with your choice of topping.
