A Basic Guide to a Successful Home – School Connection If there is a problem at school, call. Before you call, answer these questions:
- Who do I need to talk
to?
- Do I need to call right now, or can I
wait?
- How can I expect this phone call to
end?
- Am I calm enough to
listen?
- What can the teacher do about this
problem?
- Do I need to involve other
people?
- What plan can the teacher and I work
out?
- How can my child help work this out?
Taking notes can help spell out the reason for the phone call. When you plan ahead, you feel more in control. If you are upset, wait, call after you have given yourself time to calm down.
