PreparationThis
is a very important term. The groundhog predicted a mere
six more weeks of winter a short time ago. However, as
residents of the ‘great northeast’, we know that number
could be low. Snow events can happen well into
April which cause school delays and or closings. I know
we have had a quiet winter, however, be prepared to
handle some weather related ‘fun’ in the near future. As
a reminder, for delays and closings, tune into WENT or
tune to the Capitol District TV stations (Channel
6,9,10,13) for the scrolling updates, as well as our
District Homepage.
On the topic of preparedness, the spring will bring many
changes beyond the weather for the GESD. The final phase
of the Capital Project that began in the first
half of the decade will get underway in April 2010.
Though the major work at the Gloversville High School
will begin over the summer, preparation efforts will
begin soon.
I would like to inform you that the traffic pattern
will be modified beginning April 12, 2010 in preparation
for construction. More information and specific details
will be forthcoming.
Another item to prepare for relates to our Senior
students. Though June may seem like a long way
off—it isn’t. Graduation plans for celebrations are
already underway I’m sure. That being said, the high
school seniors and parents will be planning for life
after high school. College applications, FAFSA forms,
college selection, military choice or work options are
completed or will be happening in the months ahead. The
more prepared you are, the less stress the spring and
early summer will be for all concerned. If students have
career or college inquiries, please see you guidance
counselors as they are a wealth of information.
