After 5 years as the Gloversville Middle School
Principal, Mr. Jim Christopher has accepted a position with the WSHWE
BOCES,
effective Oct. 12. The timeline for finding his successor includes input
sessions with staff, students and parents on Oct. 22.
Parents, students, and the community are invited to a special meeting on Monday, Oct. 22, at 6:30 p.m. in the GMS Library to discuss and share the qualities they are looking for in the school’s new principal.
Superintendent Mike Vanyo will describe the process and timeline for finding a new principal and will lead an input session of the personal characteristics and experience parents hope to see in their next school principal.
The interview committee of selected parents, staff, and Board members will use the input collected as they search for the candidate who will be the best fit the Middle School.
Vanyo is seeking volunteers to serve on the interview committee as well. “The committee will be comprised of parents, teachers, administration, staff and the community. The committee will screen applicants and provide final candidates to me for consideration,” said Mr. Vanyo.
Vanyo said he is looking to create a “committee with as much balance as possible” and that a requirement of being a member of the committee is that you must be able to attend two evening meetings to conduct candidate screening and preliminary interviews on Oct. 30 and Nov. 1.
If you are interested in serving on the search committee, please contact the superintendent’s office at 775-5791.
“We are encouraging that anyone that wants to be involved in the process to let us know,” Vanyo said.
The new principal is expected to be announced in December. The Board of Education has appointed Helen Stuetzel to the position of Interim Principal at the Gloversville Middle School beginning on Friday, October 26.
