The three tax levy numbers

Posted 1/1/12

It may surprise you to learn that each school district in the state will present three separate tax levy numbers this spring as part of their compliance with the new legislation. Learn what those three tax levy numbers are here (PDF document).

And chances are good that none of your school district's three tax levy numbers will be exactly 2 percent.

That's because the 2 percent you hear about is just one part of a complex formula that school district's must use to calculate their tax levy numbers. View the formula used to calculate the tax levy limit here (PDF document).

* Please note, in this first year of the property tax levy cap, information about its provisions and implementation continues to evolve. We’re providing the information that we have available at this time. Gloversville and other school districts across the state are now awaiting further clarification from the New York State Office of the Comptroller, the Department of Taxation and Finance, the New York State Education Department, the Division of the Budget and the governor’s office.
