Approximately 200 Business Education students at Gloversville High School have begun working on the second half of the "New York City Employment Project." This educational project gives students the opportunity to learn about becoming employed in "the real world" through hands-on activities that go above and beyond the use of books and listening to lectures.
The students are working on writing cover letters, designing resumes, and filling out applications. All the 200 students’ information will be reviewed and graded by a pre-designed scoring system. Eighty students will then be selected to be interviewed for the NYC trip in early May.
The interviewing process will begin in February. Each of the selected students will be interviewed by two community members and a representative of the Gloversville Enlarged School District. The students will be asked questions on why they should be chosen to attend the NYC Business Trip. The interviewers will score the students on their answers, appearance, and interviewing etiquette. In the beginning of March, 40 students will be selected to attend the NYC Educational Business Trip.
