Meco Principal Jim Crawford and teachers, Allison DiMarco and Sarah Looman, recently attended a NERIC (Northeastern Regional Information Center) Tech Conference where they were invited to present information on the use of ipads in kindergarten classrooms.
Kindergartners in the Gloversville School District are using ipads in their classrooms for the first time this year. Each classroom was given 6 units and teachers are using them to support curriculum in reading and math during rotations within the classroom learning stations.
Meco staff presented to a group of educators, describing the set-up logistics, hardware, software installation and how to systematically introduce learning games to kids. The students reactions were shared and plans for the future learning opportunities were discussed. Each educator at the conference had a chance to experiment with the ipads and ask questions.
