Activities
focus on Polar Animals and Arctic Regions
Meco Elementary
School Universal Pre-K class recently hosted their
monthly Family Activity Day. Families joined
students in activities focused on Polar Animals and
Arctic Regions which the students have been learning
about. They read stories, made polar bear murals for
a Polar Bear Activity Center, made "water bottle
penguins", and enjoyed Snow Cones. This unit will
culminate with a visit from SMsgt. William Gizara of
the Stratton Air National Guard Base who visits the
school on Jan. 19. SMsgt. Gizara has visited
Antarctica several times with the 109th Airlift Wing
in support of the National Science Foundation's
Operation Deep Freeze. He will be sharing photos and
stories with students about the Antarctic Region.
