John
G. Walrath graduated from Gloversville High School 1978.
Since then he has gone on to become a successful trial
lawyer in Gwinnett County Georgia.
His father, Mr. John D. Walrath said by participating in
high school athletics his son was able to develop the
competitive nature, skills, training, discipline,
motivation and will to succeed he has needed in his
profession.
As a licensed attorney in Georgia, Mr. Walrath has pled
cases in federal, state and local courts. He is one of
“1000 Lawyers for Atlanta” – a volunteer organization
developed to provide legal assistance to those who are
less fortunate and can not afford legal representation.
Mr. Walrath has volunteered his services to the Battered
Women’s Safe House Program, providing free legal
assistance to battered woman and children, and has
provided several free legal seminars to civic groups and
organizations on various topics.
He is a member of the State Bar Association of Georgia,
Clayton County Bar Association, Gwinnett County Bar
Association, the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense
Lawyers and other professional organizations. Mr. Walrath
has won several awards from the Clayton County Bar
Association, Clayton County Legal Aid, and the Pro Bono
Project.
Outside of the courthouse, Mr. Walrath works for the
Collins Hill Athletic Association both as a board member
and as the director of basketball. He is also a founding
member of the Gwinnett Recreational All-Star Basketball
Tournament.
Mr. Walrath has coached baseball for more than eight
seasons at the Collins Hill Athletic Association, and
before moving to the Atlanta area he coached the Our Lady
of Mt. Carmel School basketball team, as well as in the
CYO basketball league.
In the past, he has served as a judge and mentor for the
Georgia High School Mock Trial Program, and has assisted
in judging the competition.
Mr. Walrath enjoys boating, SCUBA Diving, and spending
time with his wife Linda W. Walrath,12-year-old son John
and their several pets.
