Superintendent Search Update
Dear District Residents:
My first two months as Interim Superintendent have been enjoyable. While
we continue to work with the N.Y. State Education Department on getting
some of our schools and our district off the list of “In Need of
Improvement,” I still see many positive student-centered programs being
offered at our schools. We will continue to strive to make those programs
better and work to improve our weaker programs.
I wanted to take this time to inform you of the current process of finding
a new Superintendent of Schools for Gloversville. The target date for the
new leader to take over is March.
Dr. Patrick Michel, HFM BOCES District Superintendent, will be leading up
the search and I will be assisting him from my end. Last week, the flyer
advertising the position was made public and people have until November
28th to apply. As applications come in, Dr. Michel, the Board of Education
and I will be reviewing them. The first round interviews will be conducted
in December.
During that time, we will be developing a committee consisting of
teachers, staff members, parents, students, and community members to
interview the semi-finalists that the Board selects. These interviews will
take place in early January and the input from the committee will assist
the Board in selecting a final candidate for the position. We hope to
appoint the new superintendent at the January Board meeting and have this
person begin their duties sometime in March.
As we get into closer, we will start looking for volunteers to serve on
this committee. Continue to check our website and the Leader Herald
Newspaper for more information regarding this.
Thank you for your continued support of our students.
