2010 GHS Graduate is named Region III Co-Athlete of the Week for HCCC

Mollee Putnam

Herkimer County Community College women’s softball pitcher Mollee Putnam has been named Region III Female Co-Athlete of the Week. Putnam threw two complete game victories this past week.

She allowed one run in a 12-1 victory over Finger Lakes Community College. She gave up five hits and struck out six. Putnam got the start against Alfred State and went seven strong, throwing her first career no-hitter, striking out four batters. Putnam is 8-1 on the season, with a 1.20 era with six complete games. In 53 innings pitched on the season, Putnam has only given up 7 earned runs.

She currently is ranked among the top 5 in ERA in the entire nation. When asked about his Freshman Pitcher, Head Coach PJ Anadio said, “Mollee is reaping the rewards of a great work ethic. Everything she is getting she deserves because she has made it happen for herself. No one, especially me, has handed her anything. She knew she would have to come in and work hard to have the opportunity to get innings and she has done exactly that. She has worked as hard, if not harder than anyone we have in the program in the strength and conditioning portion of our season. A great kid with a great work ethic usually equals out to be a great college athlete. So far, that formula is proving to be right.”

Putnam is a Liberal Arts & Sciences: General Studies major. She shares the co-athlete honor with Heather McManus, a softball player from Jefferson Community College.
