Gloversville Enlarged School
District’s Assistant Superintendent Frank Pickus wants
to improve communication between the school district and
parents, so he is launching a forum designed to
facilitate the flow of information and allow parents to
voice concerns and have their questions answered.
Parent representatives from each school in the
district, selected by Parent-Teacher Associations and the Parent
Partnership group, will attend the monthly forum with questions and
concerns from parents from their individual schools. The three
district parent involvement coordinators will also be invited to
this forum.
"My hope is that issues and areas of concern
can be funneled through the representatives, so I have the
opportunity to assemble the appropriate personnel and expertise to
fully answer parents' questions," said Pickus. "In turn, these
answers will be taken back and shared with the different parent
organizations."
Parents and guardians are welcomed and
encouraged to attend PTA and Parent Partnership meetings to voice
concerns and questions to parent representatives at their respective
schools. Parents can be reassured that their representatives to the
forum will come back with answers and any requested information.
PTA and Parent Partnership meeting times are
listed on the website calendars. If you are the parent or guardian
of an elementary school student, visit the 'Parent Spot' link on the
district home page to learn about your parent involvement
coordinator, Janice Blodgett, and see other important information
regarding your child’s education.
The first Assistant Superintendent/Parent forum
will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 4, and will continue on a monthly
basis.
